Government Press Release PR-03 - 100% Tax Relief for Communication Technology Spending
Gordon Brown announced in the 2000 Budget new measures to assist
organisations utilising communications technology, including e-commerce.
Small businesses that invest in information and communication technology
equipment between 1 April 2000 and 31 March 2003 will be able to claim 100%
first year allowances, thereby getting immediate relief on the whole cost of
their investment.
Qualifying expenditure includes
- computers and computer peripherals.
- equipment to link to the internet.
- WAP (wireless application protocol) phones.
- Software for the purposes of the items of equipment listed above.
